The Level 2 Award in Supervising Staff Safely is aimed at supervisors, team leaders, department heads and junior managers. The course aims to provide you with practical knowledge and understandings necessary to your role in promoting health and safety in the workplace.
The course will equip you with the skills and confidence to effectively manage day to day health and safety in the workplace.
Through good health and safety management the majority of occupational injuries and incidents of ill-health can be avoided. This Level 2 Award in Supervising Staff Safely is nationally recognised and aimed at those responsible for the health and safety of others.
Whilst studying this course you will gain an understanding of the legal requirements that relate to supervising staff safely. Understand the objectives of management systems to support health and safety in the workplace. Identify how to improve workplace procedures in order to minimise the threat of hazards and risks. Finally looking at carrying out health and safety monitoring activities in the workplace.
This course provides 12 hours of learning followed by an assessment via a workplace-based task completed online.
The course looks in detail at the main legislation relating to health and safety, enforcement of legislation and consequences of breaching legislation, health and safety policies and management systems. Identifying the role of the supervisor and identifying hazards and assessing risk. This will enable you to prioritise an action plan to address risk, recommend suitable control measures and improve the health and safety culture.
You will also look at health and safety inspections, audits, record keeping, safety briefings and emergency evacuation procedures. Reporting and investigating accidents and near misses. For supervising staff you will address how to receive new starters, monitor the health, safety and welfare of employees, requirements for children and young people and requirements for new and expectant mothers.
